COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Memorial Hospital is now official under the control of the University of Colorado Health.
The change went into effect Monday after voters approved the change of ownership a month ago.
"We will be moving with purpose and conviction toward becoming one of the best health care systems in the United States,'' Memorial CEO Mike Scialdone said in a statement. "We will preserve the unwavering commitment to quality and passion for our patients that began more than a century ago. We are taking a moment to celebrate this day and to honor the trust that has been placed in us by our patients, UCHealth, and southern Colorado. We will be part of a bigger family, and with it, we will be stronger and better prepared to care for our patients.''
The City held a municipal election Aug. 28 in which 83 percent of the city's voters voted 'yes' on making University of Colorado Health a partner.
