CROWLEY, COLO. -- Colorado Department of Corrections officials have released the name of the woman killed by a prisoner Monday morning.
Officials said 55-year-old Sgt. Mary Ricard was preparing breakfast in the Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility's kitchen early Monday morning when an incident started involving a prisoner.
Ricard was killed and another staff member, Sgt. Lori Gann, was seriously injured and remains at a hospital.
All Colorado prisons were put on lockdown, and meals were prepared and delivered from the outside.
