COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A judge sentenced a man to 16 years in prison Monday for trying to kill his wife back in December.

According to Colorado Springs Police officers, Monday Matech was arrested Dec. 16 after officers found his wife in the hospital with injuries.

After learning her husband had assaulted her, officers arrested Matech on a number of domestic violence-related charges including attempted murder. He was later found guilty.

The woman had serious injuries, but they were not life-threatening
