COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers are asking for the public's help in connection with a homicide at the Chief Motel in August.
According to officers, someone picked up Santos Torres, a suspect in the Aug. 21 homicide, after a crash earlier that evening and drove him to a home.
Detectives said they want to talk with the driver and anyone else who was in that car, which Torres got into around 5:40 p.m. that evening at the corner of Security Boulevard and Willis Drive in El Paso County. They said they don't believe the driver or anyone else in the car had anything to do with the homicide but want to talk to them to get information.
The car is a small white, older-model sport utility vehicle.
The body was found at the motel on South Nevada Avenue about three hours after Torres got into that car. He and Jeannette Silvia are facing first degree murder charges.
Officers are emphasizing that the driver of the white car is not a suspect. Anyone with information should call police at (719) 444-7000.
