COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- On the one-year anniversary of the attack on Johnnie Martinez, Colorado Springs Police officers are still looking for answers.

Martinez, a homeless man who was staying at Dorchester Park, was badly beaten Sept. 13, 2011 and died nine days later in a hospital.

The 47-year-old was sleeping on a playground at the park when he was attacked around 11 p.m. Someone reported the assault the next day.

The rare unsolved murder was the 23rd at the time in 2011. Homicide numbers are down in the city in 2012.

Officers have no information on the suspects other than there may have been two men involved. Anyone with information on the attack should call them at (719) 444-7000.
