COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers arrested a woman Wednesday afternoon who is accused of driving the wrong way on I-25 and causing six separate crashes.
According to officers, 43-year-old Shannon Swanson entered southbound traffic going north somewhere south of Uintah Street. A car tried swerving out of her way and crashed right away.
When Swanson got near North Nevada Avenue, a Lexus SUV swerved to avoid her and hit a semi-truck. Swanson then hit a Walsenburg Police car, an Infiniti on a dolly, a Chevy and a LeSabre.
Swanson finally stopped near North Nevada Avenue because of damage to her car. Her car was severely damaged, but all other cars had minor damage.
Two people were hospitalized with minor injuries.
Officers said alcohol was a factor in the chain of events.
