COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers said the person who died near the top of Pikes Peak Sunday was from out of state, and the death was not criminal.

According to officers, the person was from Texas and crashed a car on Pikes Peak Highway around 6:16 p.m., going off the road and up an embankment before catching fire.

The body was badly burned in the crash, and investigators were only able to tentatively identify it based on evidence found at the scene. They will not release the name until the victim's family is notified.

Officers said there is no indication of foul play or criminal activity in connection with the crash.
