COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A K-9 police dog bit a wanted felon Thursday afternoon when the suspect refused to cooperate with officers' demands to surrender.

According to Colorado Springs Police officers, they went to a home in the 1200 block of East San Miguel Street around 4:30 p.m. looking for 26-year-old Jason Mallett, who was wanted on several warrants.

Officers found Mallett in an apartment, but he ignored officers' requests to surrender. Officers then sent in a dog, which found Mallett and bit him on the shoulder.

Mallett was treated at Memorial Hospital for minor injuries before being taken into custody.
