COLORADO -- Colorado State troopers wrapped up their DUI crackdown campaign by making more than 100 arrests over Labor Day weekend, many for drunk driving.

The 100 Days of Heat campaign, which traditionally starts Memorial Day weekend and ends Labor Day weekend, is an effort by the State Patrol to eliminate drunk driving and lower crashes throughout Colorado.

Troopers ended the campaign by making 104 total arrests over the weekend, 73 of them for DUI or DUID. They also issued 136 seatbelt citations.

Two people died in separate crashes over the weekend. Alcohol is suspected as a factor in one crash, while lack of use of a seatbelt is suspected as a factor in the other.

Final numbers for the campaign haven't been released yet, and Labor Day weekend data does not include local law enforcement agencies such as police departments or sheriff's offices.
