Colorado Springs Police arrested two people in connection with the city's latest murder.
Police took Santos Torres and Jeannette Silvia into custody Wednesday afternoon for the murder of 59 year old Michael Ramirez, whose body was found at the Chief Motel Tuesday night. Police were called to the motel on South Nevada Avenue shortly before 9:00 Tuesday night, and found Ramirez, who had apparent trauma from an unknown object.
The cause of death has not yet been determined, but an autopsy was scheduled for this morning. Torres and Silvia both face first degree murder charges; Torres is being held with no bond. This is Colorado Springs' 17th murder this year. There were 19 homicides at the same time in 2011.
