Pair arrested in child abuse case

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Two people were arrested Wednesday in a child abuse case that left a five year old with a life-threatening injuries.

Colorado Springs Police arrested 31 year old Tracy Roybal and 25 year old Brittany Henderson at the El Paso County Courthouse Wednesday afternoon, in connection with a child abuse case that occurred on New Years Day. Police were called to an address near Bijou and Academy on January 1, 2012 when a five year old boy was unconscious and not breathing. He was taken to Memorial Hospital, suffering from a life-threatening brain bleed.

Roybal and Henderson were at a court hearing when they were taken into custody. Roybal is charged with two counts of felony child abuse and one count of attempting to influence a public servant. Henderson faces two felony charges of  conspiracy to commit child abuse, and one count of attempting to influence a public servant.  Both are being held on $250,000 bond and will be advised in court this afternoon.
