Police looking for murder suspect

Police are on the lookout for a man accused of murder after a body was found at a motel on South Nevada.

Colorado Springs Police were called to the Chief Motel shortly before 9:00 Tuesday night. They found the body of a man with apparent trauma, but were unable to identify a weapon.  Detectives gathered enough evidence for the arrest of 49 year old Joseph Santos-Torres for first degree murder, but have not yet located him. The victims name is being withheld untl next of kin is notified.

This is the 17th homicide of the year.  At the same time in 2011, there were 19 homicides.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Santos-Torres is asked to call Crimestoppers or CSPD at 444-7000.
