CANON CITY, COLO. -- Fremont County Sheriff's deputies said a 4-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool Wednesday at a private day care.
Deputies said the boy was playing with other children in an above ground pool in the 1300 block of South 12th Street in the Lincoln Park area in south Canon City when the boy went under.
The day care provider heard the children yelling and ran to the pool as the children were pulling the boy from the water.
Medical personnel tried performing CPR on him until he was taken to a hospital, but they couldn't revive him.
An investigation is ongoing.
