CRESTED BUTTE, COLO. -- A Colorado bed and breakfast has been ranked seventh in the country among travel places that allow pets.
TripAdvisor, the world's largest travel website, ranked The Ruby of Crested Butte in Crested Butte, Colo. #7 on its list of top pet-friendly places.
The site surveyed more than 1,000 animal owners to compile the results, and about half of them planned to travel with their pets over the next year. More than half of that group planned to stay in a hotel, while 35 percent said they would stay in a vacation rental.
“Our survey shows that TripAdvisor travelers love the companionship of their pets while on vacation as 57 percent indicated it’s their top reason for taking them along for the ride,” Brooke Ferencsik, director of communications at TripAdvisor, said in a statement. “Nearly three-quarters of respondents who vacation with their pets noted that they’re typically able to find animal-friendly accommodations when traveling, which is good news for all the Lassies and Luckys out there!”
The Ruby's average nightly rate is $199. Below is TripAdvisor's writeup on the bed and breakfast:
"Travelers’ four-legged friends will receive a warm welcome at this B&B in southwest Colorado, which collects a voluntary donation of $10 per dog per night – with all proceeds going to the local animal shelter. One TripAdvisor traveler remarked, 'The Ruby offered gracious hosts, amazing food, beautiful rooms/property, and was remarkably dog friendly (cookies for people and dogs).'"
