COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs attractions are working hard for your business.

"There really isn't a playbook for this, this is brand new for Colorado Springs," Doug Price, President & CEO of the Colorado Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau said.

Tourism brings in $1.2 billion to the Pikes Peak Region and employs almost 14,000 people.

But after the Waldo Canyon Fire and temporary closure of Highway 24 businesses that rely on tourists are struggling.

Cave of the Winds was closed for eight days, which makes up 20-30 percent of their summer business.

"We've survived floods and other disasters, so we know better than to chase a rock rolling down hill.  But it will level off," Grant Carey, of Cave of the Winds said.

So the Colorado Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau are helping get the word out with a new "Welcome Back Colorado Springs" campaign.

The new online and print ads will focus on local and neighboring major markets in Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma.

"You know some people think when school starts that's the end of the season but there are markets that will travel and don't rely on the school schedule," Price said.

The goal is to get the word out, the Pikes Peak Region is open for business!
