ELLICOTT, COLO. -- An Ellicott man who was hospitalized Wednesday now faces an attempted murder charge after deputies said he attacked his wife before trying to commit suicide.

According to El Paso County Sheriff's deputies, Paul Thompson attacked his wife Rae Ann, injured her throat, then tried to commit suicide around 6:09 a.m. Wednesday.

He didn't kill her or himself and now faces attempted murder and assault charges. Both are still hospitalized but are expected to live, and Paul is on guard.

Deputies got a call from a neighbor in the 23000 block of Wheat Street who said Paul had a serious throat injury. He now has a $500,000 bond and is facing attempted first degree murder, first degree assault and domestic violence charges.
