COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A Colorado Springs Police officer is recovering from minor injuries Thursday morning after a drunk driver ran a red light and slammed into a squad car.
According to the officer, 18-year-old Sara Ely ran a red light at Weber Street while driving east on Boulder Street around 12:15 a.m. Thursday. She ran a red light and hit a cop car, which was going north on Weber through the green light at Boulder.
Fire crews had to pull Ely's passenger from the car, and that person is at a hospital.
Ely had minor injuries and was arrested for traffic charges and DUI.
