Car theft leads to crash, carjacker on the loose

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A man accused of stealing a car early Thursday morning is on the loose after causing a crash.

Colorado Springs Police officers said a driver was at a red light at the intersection of Academy Boulevard and Hancock Expressway in the city when a Trailblazer pulled up next to him. A man got out, pulled out a gun and demanded the victim's car.

After the gunman got the car, he drove through the red light. The Trailblazer followed, but a truck that had a green light crashed into it.

Officers found the Trailblazer nearby, but the driver had run away. They did not find the stolen car.

The gunman is a 5'6," 150 pound Hispanic man who wore a bandana over his face. The stolen car is a black Honda Civic with "SoCal" in white lettering. It also has a red spoiler.
