COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Utilities crews will begin restoring gas, electricity and water to the Mountain Shadows neighborhood Monday.

Six days after the Waldo Canyon Fire torched 346 homes in the neighborhood, utility crews said they will try to turn gas and electricity back on after finding no problems during testing over the weekend.

Officials did say some areas were severely damaged and may not be restored for weeks as crews will have to do major repairs to utility lines.

Evacuees will not be charged for water on the next bill and will also not be charged for gas or electricity during the days they were evacuated.

Customers who lost homes in the fire will not receive a bill.

Anyone with questions can call the utilities hotline at (719) 448-3800.
