COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A former Fountain-Fort Carson High School teacher who lured a girl into a sexual relationship in 2011 was sentenced to 10 years of intense supervised parole and five years of community corrections Tuesday.
Anthony Ribaudo was arrested in June 2011 on charges of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust. Ribaudo later admitted to having sex with a 17-year-old girl in a training room during a basketball tournament while serving as the head coach of the men's varsity basketball team.
He was also Dean of Students at the school.
Ribaudo resigned from District 8 after the allegations surfaced and plead guilty in early 2012. His sentence does not include jail time, but he will have to register as a sex offender.
Ribaudo's wife at the time was reportedly a former student of his as well, and he told officers in 2011 that the opportunity to have sex with the girl "opened up" because of relationship problems with his wife.
The victim said Ribaudo never forced her to do anything and said she knew what she was doing.
