PUEBLO, COLO. (AP) -- Pueblo City Manager Jerry Pacheco has agreed to resign after driving away from the scene of a minor traffic accident that caused no injuries.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports the City Council asked Pacheco to resign Tuesday night, and he agreed on condition he keep his job as head of city planning.

Pacheco was driving his girlfriend's car on May 23 when the vehicle rolled backward and hit another car at a traffic light.

Pacheco drove away but the other driver recorded his license plate number.

Police didn't ticket Pacheco. Police Chief Luis Velez has said he would review police policies but said officers have discretion on writing tickets in minor traffic accidents.
