COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers are informing the community that a sex offender has moved into the city.
Xeryus Casias' criminal history means he is labeled as a sexually violent predator. He was convicted of sexual assault on a child in 2011.
Other previous criminal convictions include underage possession and consumption of alcohol (twice), false information, shoplifting, obstruction of a peace officer, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, misdemeanor theft and driving under the influence.
He was recently released from prison.
Casias will be living in the 3000 block of East Platte Avenue. He is a 5'7," 175 pound Hispanic man with brown hair and brown eyes.
He is one of 10 sexually violent predators living in the area. As with all sex offenders who move in, officers have notified neighbors and put out bulletins to the public.
