COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers were able to arrest a kidnapping suspect after the man he kidnapped secretly dialed 911 several times while the two were talking about where they were early Monday morning.
According to officers, Matthew Jaramillo allegedly shot at a man, then kidnapped him at some point.
The first call the man made to officers came around 1:47 a.m. He told officers he had been shot at and thought he was near Garden of the Gods Park. However, the call was disconnected, and officers couldn't find him.
When he called back, officers heard him speaking with another man about being shot at, but that call was also disconnected.
Officers tried to find and identify the man but couldn't.
Around 2:48 a.m., they got another call from him, and he was giving directions near Lake Avenue, then giving other directions as Jaramillo was driving north.
Officers finally found Jaramillo around 3:04 a.m. in the 4700 block of Centennial Boulevard. Jaramillo was arrested for second degree kidnapping and a number of other charges after officers found a loaded gun in his car.
