GOLDEN, COLO. (AP) -- A 19-year-old Denver man is out on bond after being charged with stealing and killing hamsters from a pet store where he worked.

William Riddick appeared in court Friday and was released on $200 bond.

Pam Russell, a spokeswoman for the Jefferson County district attorney, says Riddick is accused of stealing and killing hamsters from a PetSmart store in Westminster.

Store officials said Friday they contacted authorities when they learned of the alleged abuse, and the employee was fired.
