COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Fort Carson and the Armed Services Blood Program are holding a huge blood drive for troops overseas.

Donations will be sent to military hospitals, ships, combat support hospitals and medics on the front lines.

"It's very important that we have blood if needed in theater. If there is an IED attack, it takes over 40 units of blood to save one servicemembers' life," Lori Kuczmanski of the Armed Services Blood program said.

Fort Carson said they need all blood types. The blood drive will continue Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Special Events Center.

If you'd like to donate, use the main gate located off Highway 115 on the west-side of the Mountain Post.
