TELLER COUNTY, COLO. -- Teller County Sheriff Deputies, along with Colorado State Patrol, arrested 23-year-old Sgt. Herbert Mullens III shortly before 1 p.m Friday at Rampart Range and Loy Creek.
The sheriff's office started getting phone calls around noon that a man was going door-to-door on an ATV asking homeowners to call him a rental car.
The suspect explained that he was trying to find his brother's house and was having trouble.
He was taken into custody without incident.
Wednesday night Sgt. Mullens fled from two military police officers while being returned to the Teller County Jail.
Officials said the inmate asked to stop at the McDonald's in Woodlank Park to use the restroom.
He's being in pretrial confinement pending charges of driving while intoxicated, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Teller County Sheriff Mike Ensminger said the airman is now facing charges of a stolen ATV and giving false information to an officer. He could also being facing federal charges for escaping.
