The Classical Academy

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Administrative changes are coming to the Classical Academy in Colorado Springs after the school's delayed response to two suspicious devices.
The bomb squad was called out to the K-12 charter school last Thursday after an usual backpack and package were found on campus.
After the objects were deemed "incendiary," school officials said both had been found Monday of that week.
Then this past Monday, the board of directors were told of a third device found prior to last week's incident.
"As a parent it was frustrating to know that a lot of things took place, was it trying to be covered up or did they drop the ball?" Pete Azzopardi, a Classical Academy parent, said.
One of the people being held responsible for the delay is principal Hugh Di Pretore, who's been put on a 10-day administrative leave.
It's a temporary leave of absence that will prohibit Pretore from being on campus but keep him involved.
The school's President, Dr. David Bohn, has also resigned.
The school has admitted Thursday's incident is a learning lesson, but they stand by their decision to continue secondary school as normal and evacuate 300 elementary-aged children.
"It took longer ten it should have on all accounts, but with the snow day and making sure things were reported in a timely fashion, that's why things took so long," Dr. Chris Leland, chairman of the board, said.
A transition team will be put together by the end of the week to work on the school president's replacement.
