CLIFTON, COLO. -- Air Force Academy officials said a cadet died early Saturday morning in a car crash.
Officials with the Academy said Cadet Third Class Peter Quick, a Tennessee native, was one of three cadets in a car on I-70B near Clifton. The car crashed into a semi-truck, and Quick, who was one of the passengers in the car, died.
The other two cadets did not have life-threatening injuries, and the semi-truck driver was not hurt.
"The Air Force Academy family is deeply saddened by the tragic loss one of our own," Academy Commandant of Cadets Brig. Gen. Richard Clark said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Peter's family, his loved ones and the Cadet Wing during this difficult time of grieving and healing."
Cadet Quick studied computer engineering, and was also a member of the Academy's Show Choir.
Prior to joining the Air Force Academy's Class of 2014, Cadet Quick was an enlisted Airman stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, where he worked as a Technical Application Specialist and attained the rank of Airman First Class.
