FREMONT COUNTY, COLO. -- Fremont County Sheriff's deputies have released the names of the two men involved in a skydiving accident Sunday that led to a death and serious injury.

Deputies said 35-year-old Jeremy Worrell, a student skydiver who was reportedly making his first jump Sunday, died when both the primary and backup parachutes released at the same time, entangling and causing the skydivers to freefall.

The instructor for the tandem jump, 28-year-old Gregory Whitehurst, remains in critical condition at an area hospital.

The two jumped from about 8,000 feet near the county airport in an area east of Canon City.

Worrell was killed upon impact with the ground.
