Fort Carson soldier killed in Afghanistan

FORT CARSON, COLO. -- Fort Carson officials said one of their own died in Afghanistan Saturday.

Sgt. Daniel Brown had been a member of the Army since the summer of 2003 and was on his tenth month of deployment to Afghanistan.

The Jerome, Idaho native was 27 years old and had won four Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, a NATO Medal and campaign medals with stars from both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Brown served in Iraq from 2005-2006.

Brown was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.
