COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- An alert witness helped Colorado Springs Police officers thwart a kidnapping attempt in a Safeway parking lot Tuesday night.

Officers said they arrived at the store in the 1100 block of North Circle Drive after a witness called claiming a man had tried to push a woman into his car.

Officers were able to find the couple a short time late in a nearby park.

She had finally jumped out of the car in the store's parking lot.

Officers arrested Hearn and charged him with second degree kidnapping, third degree assault and harassment.
