COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The trial for the former Colorado Springs Police officer accused of more than 200 criminal charges including sexual assault on at least 15 boys continued Monday as jurors were shown videos of Josh Carrier touching the victims.
Carrier was a resource officer at Horace Mann Middle School in the city from 2009-2010 and volunteered as a wrestling coach at the school as well. Several boys told investigators Carrier touched them inappropriately while in the locker room and during weigh-ins.
Monday prosecutors showed the jury video of at least six boys getting undressed and Carrier touching them, some on their genitals.
Prosecutors asked for the trial to be closed due to the graphic images, but the judge denied the request.
Several detectives who worked on the case also testified Monday. Det. Clayton Blackwell conducted a search warrant on Carrier's home in May 2011 after he was accused of possessing child pornography. Blackwell said he found pornographic magazines in what he called a room "full of trash, pizza boxes and videos."
Det. Adam Romine described pictures and videos of kids engaging in sexual activities he found on Carrier's computer.
In a phone conversation played in the courtroom Monday, Carrier could be heard apologizing to friend, school staff member and former wrestler Nick Graham, saying he hadn't done anything wrong and apologizing for what everybody was going through.
Monday was day two of the trial, which will resume at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
