COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Hundreds, maybe even thousands, of jobs will soon be created in Colorado Springs.
Mayor Steve Bach made the announcement during a press conference Monday morning alongside the CEO of Stellar Restaurant Solutions.
Stellar Restaurant Solutions serves as a call center for some of the nation's largest restaurant chains. The company was launched locally by Steve Bigari, who also owns Mr. Biggs, but Bigari considered moving out of Colorado to better expand the business.
"I can tell you that six months ago I was moving to Phoenix," he said. "Now our offices are staying here, and I am very delighted that that's the case."
Bigari announced his company's corporate headquarters would stay in Colorado Springs and that his decision to stay was thanks to the changes the mayor has made in the city.
"It was his heart that said, 'Listen, we want you to stay, and we're going to work hard to keep you here,'" Bigari said.
Bigari stated the city needed a leader that would help entrepreneurs feel like they belong and utilize the city's resources.
"[Someone] to help streamline decisions, get things done, get us quality people and get our permits on time," Bigari said. "He's [Bach] completely changed the heart of the city towards business."
Bach said he is pleased to hear Stellar Restaurant Solutions will stay in Colorado Springs.
"We will take the very best care possible of our existing employers," Bach said. "They will stay here and they will grow here. That is the long term basis for our prosperity and well-being of our citizens."
Bigari said he hopes the city continues to answer the call from other entrepreneurs looking to find success in Colorado Springs.
"You can chase the next big company," he said. "What you need to understand is that 60 percent of the jobs in this country will be created in small enterprises like Stellar. So, while you're whale hunting, you need to take care of the entrepreneurs that are in the community."
The mayor stated making the city a place where businesses, small and large, can be successful is a top priority for local government.
"In order to create jobs in Colorado Springs," Bach said, "our city government must first build a business-friendly environment. That is job one for us...to be the most business-friendly city in the U.S."
Bigari also said his decision to stay in Colorado Springs was because of the quality of employees in the city. No word yet, however, on when the jobs will become available.
