COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Detra Farries, the woman accused of dragging a tow truck operator to his death a year ago this week, has been found guilty of all 10 charges against her.

The jury handed down the verdict late Friday afternoon after a little more than 24 hours of deliberation in a case that lasted three weeks.

Farries has been convicted of vehicular homicide, manslaughter and leaving the scene of a deadly accident, as well as numerous traffic charges.  A charge of reckless endangerment was dropped.

Prosecutors called more than 50 witnesses to the stand, all of whom saw, heard or were involved with the investigation of the Feb. 23, 2011 dragging death.

The Prosecution said they were pleased with the results.

"We're very pleased with the verdict. We think it's the proper verdict, we appreciate the hard work that the jury undertook, we appreciate the work the Colorado Springs Police Department did," Jeff Lindsey, one of the attorneys, said.

Lindsey and Mike Ringle, the other prosecuting attorney, said they have been working on the case for a year, and it has been emotional for everyone.

"We were there on the scene so that emotional component certainly exists, and it's a factor in a lot of cases that we deal with," Ringle said.

Lindsey said it was also clear that the case was difficult for the entire community.

"A lot of seasoned police officers, a lot of firemen, that have seen a lot of things and I don't know if I've ever had a case where I've seen so many witnesses break down or cry on the witness stand," Lindsey said.

He added that the people who tried to save Rose say a lot about the community.

"Those people that came to Mr. Rose's aid, those people should be commended because they did everything they could to help him, and I can't emphasize how much it reenforces my belief in the community and the goodness of people in general that those people cared so much about somebody that they really didn't know."

Allen Rose's widow did not wish to comment Friday but told the prosecution she was relieved.

"Ms. Rose was relieved. She gets some closure from something that was obviously horrific to her and her children, so I think she's relieved. I think she feels like a little bit of a burden, or a huge burden, I'm sorry, has been taken off her shoulders," Lindsey said.

Farries argued she didn't know Rose was being dragged when she drove away in her SUV as Rose was preparing to tow it that day. Rose's feet got tangled in the cables, and he was dragged more than a mile. He died from his injuries.

Farries faces up to 24 years in prison and will be sentenced April 20.

She is out on bond and will remain so until her sentencing.
