EL PASO COUNTY, COLO. -- The investigation continues into Tuesday night's double shooting at a home in eastern El Paso County.
Around 6 p.m. deputies were called to a home on Chieftan Drive.
Inside they found two adults dead, and three children unharmed.
No names have been released, but investigators said the victims are a 27-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man.
What their relationship was, that also has not been confirmed, but those who knew the two said this is a terrible tragedy.
"My heart completely sank to the bottom of my stomach, I felt like throwing up, I grew up knowing this family through the Fountain Baseball League," Pat Pacheco said. "It really hit home, and I went straight to my kids' rooms and gave them hugs and kisses."
Pacheco is not the only one horrified by what happened, as the deaths have rocked the small communities of Widefield, Security and Fountain.
Which, according to Pacheco, was home to the female victim.
"She was a beautiful mother, an awesome friend, and somebody that was just completely full of life and always thought of other people first," Pacheco said.
Autopsies have been planned, and the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said the results should be released sometime Thursday.
Beyond that, nothing else is known.
"We did determine that nobody else was involved and an alert did not need to go out to the community," Sgt. Mike Schaller with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said. "We are not looking for any suspects, but it is still an active investigation."
The children found in the home are all under the age of 10.
Neighbors who know them said it is simply tragic.
"I thought it was just crazy, I did not expect that, it was just terrible," a neighbor said.
Last we were told the kids were in the custody of the El Paso County Victim Assistance Program, but that may have changed as neighbors said there are relatives in the area.
