COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers are searching for a suspect who robbed a Walgreens pharmacy Sunday morning.

It is the fourth robbery at a Walgreens in the city in a little more than a week.

Around 10 a.m. officers responded to the store on the corner of S. Chelton Road and Academy Boulevard. Officers said a man claiming to be armed handed a note to the pharmacist, demanding prescription drugs.

The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of drugs.

The robbery is similar to what has happened in recent weeks at three other Walgreens stores in the area, including two in Colorado Springs and one in Falcon.

That has some Walgreens customers concerned about what is being done to protect shoppers and employees.

"It is kind of scary when it is happening during the day time," Anna Worthington, who frequently shops at the Walgreens location on Chelton, said. "Maybe they should hire a security guard."

Several other shoppers agreed with Worthington late Sunday afternoon, including Gary Carlton, who was picking up medicine for his roommate.

"He's scared to come here now," Carlton said. "It's going to get violent eventually. Somebody is going to get hurt or even killed."

No one has been harmed during the recent robberies. Officers have not said if the four incidents are connected, but investigations are ongoing.

The suspect  of the Walgreens on Chelton robbery is described as a male of unknown race, between 5'6" and 5'8" and has a thin build. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored hoodie and jeans.

Anyone with information regarding any of the robberies is asked to contact police at (719) 444-7000.
