MONUMENT, COLO. -- When Chris and Wendy Jeub met, they knew they wanted a big family.
The number 16 was never mentioned, but that's what they got.
The kids, Alicia, Alissa, Cynthia, Lydia, Isaiah, Micah, Noah, Tabitha, Keilah, Hannah, Josiah, Havilah, Joshua, Priscilla, Zechariah and baby Elijah range from 28 to only 9 months.
Privacy is hard to find in their four bedroom, three bathroom home in Monument.
But, the kids said "you learn not to even care about it."
Spending the day with the Jeubs is really about being a fly on the wall.
It's amazing how smooth a house full of kids can run.
As soon as father Chris said, "Jeub kids," the children line up from oldest to youngest yelling off their names.
This routine is ofen used when the family travels. It's a sure way to make certain everyone is accounted for.
Most mornings start the same way.
Preparations for breakfast begin at 8 a.m., and everyone plays a role. From cracking the eggs to toasting the bread, it's a team effort.
Wendy makes a lot of food from scratch to save money. In fact, she's written four different books, some of which are cook books.
She's learned creative ways to cook for a family of 16.
Surprisingly, the family only spends around $800 dollars a month on groceries.
After breakfast, it's chore time.
There's a detailed chore chart set up in the family's home.
Once the children find their names, it's off to do laundry, sweep, take out the trash, wash the dishes, etc.
Chris says, "good enough is perfect," and they learn to accept messes.
Wendy also homeschools all the children, except for 19-year-old Cynthia, who's now in college.
The Jeub Family loves the Lord first.
In fact, they can attest to a strong persuasion from God early in their marriage to have children.
Wendy says, "without God's conviction in our life we would likely have stopped with four children."
She goes on to say, any "condemnation we may be dealt by those who feel our convictions are irresponsible or foolish, we can respond with confidence that we are obeying God."
Wendy and Chris believe the same kind of love a parent of two children can show, they show to 16 children.
Both admit the road to 16 kids hasn't been easy, but they argue "what path in life is?"
The family has been stretched in more ways than physical.
They've been stretched personally, medically, and financially.
But, Chris and Wendy said "each day brings a new experience with our children and with our God on whom we depend."
The Jeub family will be holding a book signing Feb. 11 at the Love Shop in downtown Monument from 10 a.m. until noon. There, you will find all four of their books and be able to meet the family in person.
