CANON CITY, COLO. -- The search is over for a Fremont County man who has been missing for almost a week.

Richard Jones was arrested Thursday afternoon in Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs Police officers said he fabricated his kidnapping. He was arrested for criminal extortion due to attempting to obtain money for his release. He was also arrested on an unrelated outstanding felony arrest warrant.

The 32-year-old was reported missing by family members Jan. 20.

He's being held in the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
