Stolen car found abandoned after chase

FREMONT COUNTY, COLO. -- Fremont County Sheriff's deputies found a car they had been chasing abandoned in an alley early Monday morning with several stolen items inside.

Deputies tried stopping a 2002 Honda Accord around 1 a.m. Monday for an equipment violation in the 1400 block of Royal Gorge Boulevard. However, the driver did not stop and managed to elude deputies before abandoning the car in an alley near the intersection of 15th Street and Franklin Avenue.

When deputies found the car, the found it had been reported stolen. They also found several stolen items inside, including several GPS units, cell phones, a digital camera, a .270 caliber rifle, a knife holster and a stun gun.

Deputies are still searching for the driver.
