COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police arrested one man and know the name of another who stole a car and burglarized another after they were caught by a resident with a silent alarm.
Residents in the 3100 block of Deliverance Drive in the Cottonwood Park area set up a surveillance system to alert neighbors of prowlers because of the recent crime wave in the area.
Around 12:52 a.m. Monday, two men triggered the alarm, but residents were able to chase them off.
Residents then noticed a woman in an unfamiliar SUV and detained her until officers arrived.
Officers found tools in the SUV that came from a car burglary nearby, and they also found one of the men, 31-year-old Timothy Capaul, hiding behind a tree on Lange Circle.
Capaul admitted to the burglary and also gave officers the name of his accomplice; 35-year-old Charles Salic.
Salic is wanted on aggravated motor vehicle theft, burglary of a motor vehicle, possession of burglary tools and conspiracy to commit those crimes. Capaul was arrested on those same charges.
Officers also said the SUV had been reported stolen. They released the woman pending criminal charges.
