COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The local community gathered Wednesday evening to remember 87-year-old Kathryn "Kit" Grazioli.
Grazioli's body was found burning off Gold Camp Road last Wednesday. Her death was ruled a homicide.
Friday Colorado Springs Police officers arrested 21-year-old Marcus Allen Smith for first degree murder.
They said his fingerprints were found at her home and on her car.
Before the candlelight vigil, a celebration of Grazioli's life was held at her church, Faith Presbyterian.
Afterwards, her friends and family went to the baseball diamond at Palmer Park to light candles in her honor.
"We played a lot of games on this field, and she would come out and watch the kids, and she actually played third base for the Navy team when she was in the Navy," Kit's friend Jackie Livingston said.
Livingston said Grazioli was an avid supporter of little league and would supply their equipment when she owned All American Sports.
As for her favorite team, Livingston said Grazioli loved the Colorado Rockies.
"She was so excited when we got a team here, and it was not unusual for her to write or email the coaches and tell them what she thought they should be doing and how they should do their line-up," Livingston said. "She would then watch and was sure they were following her instructions."
One time former Rockies manager Clint Hurdle called Grazioli to talk about the team.
Livingston said it was one of the best days of her life, a testament to her vibrant personality.
"She ran circles around us, she went to every networking group and she went out to lunch almost everyday to talk with people," Livingston said. "You would see her car up and down town and I would say 'There goes Kit, there goes Kit.'"
Even though they are going through a difficult time right now, Grazioli's friends said they will be okay because Kit never dwelled on the past.
"She was always going on about tomorrow and how wonderful tomorrow was going to be," Livingston said.
A lot of questions remain about what happened to Grazioli the night she died.
The case is still under investigation.
