COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Would-be robbers got more than they bargained for after they attempted to confront a couple out for a leisurely stroll.
Colorado Springs Police officers said a husband and wife who had just moved to the area were taking a walk on Fairmont Place and Fairmont Drive, near Chelton Road and Pikes Peak Avenue, around 10:30 Tuesday night when they were approached by two masked men.
The suspects ordered the two to the ground, but the husband, who had just transferred from Fort Hood, pulled out his weapon instead.
Officers said the assailants tried to flee but not before one of them turned around and rose what looked like a handgun.
The husband fired one shot in the suspects' direction and the two continued to run.
Officers are still on the lookout for the two suspects.
