EL PASO COUNTY, COLO. -- El Paso County Sheriff's deputies are alerting the community about a new sexually violent predator who is now living in the county.
James Walters is living in the 4300 block of Ericson Drive in the Stratmoor Hills area of the county.
The 57-year-old sexually assaulted a child in 1984 and was sentenced to two years in prison with one year of parole.
In 1985, he was again convicted of sexual assault and was sentenced to 24 years in prison. He served 20 of those years.
In 2008, he failed to register as a sex offender and spent two months in jail, followed by 100 hours of community service and got four years of intensive supervised probation.
He sexually assaulted another person earlier this year and was sentenced to three months in jail with 20 years to life of intensive supervised probation.
All of Walters' assaults were in Colorado.
Walters registered as a sex offender with the county Nov. 3.
The sheriff's office will hold a community meeting Thursday at 6 p.m. at Stratmoor Hills Elementary School, which will be open to the public.
