COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. (AP) -- Aviation investigators say the South Dakota-based Air Force pilot killed in the crash of his civilian airplane in Colorado was rated "exceptionally qualified" on his last military flight review.
Twenty-five-year-old Capt. Martin Anthony Riggan and his wife, Nicole, died when the single-engine plane crashed at the Colorado Springs airport in freezing fog on Dec. 22.
Martin Riggan was a B-1B bomber pilot stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D.
A National Transportation Safety Board report dated Wednesday notes Martin Riggan's rating on his last military mission and instrument flight review. The report recounts the findings of the investigation, many of which were disclosed in a previous report and interviews with an investigator.
The report does not list the cause of the crash. That determination can take a year or more.
