COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. (AP) -- The Colorado Army National Guard is building a training center and a readiness center in the Colorado Springs area.

Ground-breaking ceremonies for both are scheduled for Friday.

The 128,000-square-foot Regional Training Institute will be built at Fort Carson near other training facilities. Students come from both active-duty and reserve components.

The 63,000-square-foot readiness center will be on the eastern edge of the Air Force Academy. It will be home to Company A and the Headquarters Company of the Army Guard's new 1st Battalion.

Construction on both buildings starts in November. The readiness center is expected to be completed in May 2013 and the training center in October 2013.

Cost estimates weren't immediately available.
