COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A woman wanted in connection with a shooting death that began at the Chief Motel in Colorado Springs and ended in a parking lot at Memorial Hospital has turned herself in to officers.
Colorado Springs Police officers put out a warrant for 21-year-old Brittney Angel's arrest Monday, six days after 27-year-old Christen Vargas was killed in an incident that began at a southwest city motel.
According to officers, El Paso County Sheriff's deputies were attempting to serve a warrant at the motel Sept. 13 around 7:30 p.m. Vargas allegedly drove over a deputy's foot before fleeing the scene. The deputy fired one shot during the incident.
Officers later responded to a dead body call and found her dead in a car at Memorial Hospital. The El Paso County Coroner ruled the death a homicide and said she was shot to death, but investigators have not said if it was the deputy's shot that killed her.
Angel was wanted on felony eluding and tampering with evidence charges, though officers have not said how exactly she is related to the incident.
Angel turned herself in around 1 a.m. Thursday.
