COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A four car rollover crash sent numerous people to the hospital and left a big mess for authorities late Monday night.
Just before 9 p.m. officers were sent to the intersection of Platte Avenue and Chelton Road in Colorado Springs after four cars collided.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department had to be called to the scene in order to pull at least one patient from a car.
A number of people were transported to area hospitals in order to be treated for injuries.
The Major Accident Unit believes one of the cars had been traveling westbound on Platte when it entered the intersection at Chelton, possibly against a red light.
That vehicle struck a southbound car, and then the two collided with two other cars in the eastbound turn lanes.
Authorities said alcohol and speed both appear to be factors in the crash.
