LONGMONT, COLO. (AP) -- Authorities say a 17-year-old university student lost both her legs at the knee when she fell under a moving freight train while trying to hop aboard in Longmont.
Police haven't released the woman's name but say she is a student at Colorado State University. Police say her parents live in another state.
The accident occurred Monday. The teen was flown to Denver Health Medical Center. Her condition wasn't immediately available.
Police say one of three males who were with her was briefly dragged by the train but suffered only minor injuries.
Two of the males were cited for trespassing. The third fled.
There were conflicting reports on where the males were from. At least two live in Fort Collins, home of Colorado State, and one may be from Gillette, Wyo.
