COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers have arrested four people for allegedly stealing thousands of feet in copper wire from streetlights in the city.
A few weeks ago the Metal Theft Task force began the investigation after thousands of feet of streetlight wire was stolen from utility poles. Officers conducted surveillance on the suspects after learning who they were.

Officers conducted a search warrant at Charles McNew's apartment in the 3500 block of West Colorado Boulevard and found the stolen copper wire from Thursday. They arrested McNew, as well as Brad Remington, Anthony Nerone and Lori Trujillo.
All four have been charged with theft and conspiracy to commit theft. Nerone has a standard bond, while the other three have bonds of $100,000 each.
Officers said the total value of copper wire stolen in the city in August was about $100,000.
