COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers arrested a man early Sunday for stealing a car from Memorial Hospital and crashing it in Colorado Springs.
According to officers, Matthew Nyquest stole a car from the valet parking lot of the hospital near downtown Colorado Springs, then crashed it at the intersection of Constitution Avenue and Union Boulevard.
Nyquest ran from the scene with a GPS in his hand, which he had stolen from a second car in the hospital parking lot.
Officers used Memorial Hospital security surveillance videos and conducted a lengthy investigation throughout the day, finally leading them to Nyquest in the southeast part of the city.
He is being charged with motor vehicle theft, first degree criminal trespass, hit and run, and various other charges.
Nyquest is not a hospital employee.
